Hi,

I am just newbie in this recording world and frankly speaking I am not much aware about those technical jargon.

My wife wants to start recording her singing on our existing MAC book pro before we burn as audio CD. We are having some karaoke songs and are looking for good microphone. So far it seems "Samson C01 USB Condenser" meets our bill. Also it seems Shure SM58+X2u are having very good feedback. Though price differences are over 100 dollers but just wondering if it would be worth to invest for just home recording!

We would really appreciate any suggestion which will help us to choose right mic for our ameture home recording. Also we are thinking to use garageband for this mixing staffs. Any other suggestion would be highly appreciated.

Read the sticky threads at the top of the Newbies section of these forums about computer recording. No one here wants to recommend a USB microphone - its a 'dead end' piece if equipment, meaning there is no way to use it when 'moving up' to better equipment (for better sound). The best advice is to get a standard microphone with XLR connection and a separate USB audio interface (with mic preamp).
