alrighty then...

Ive got:

A good computer.

-ensoniq ASR 10
-Akai MPD16
-2 Technics 1210s
-Vestax 05 Pro 2
-Reason Software v2

I will have very soon:

-Presonus Firebox
-MAudio Luna Recording Mic.

OK experts, what else will I need So that I can transfer my LPs from my tables and mixer(vestax) into mixtapes recorded on my PC. Will the Firebox suffice?

And what kind of software should I purchase for multitracking? The firebox comes with Cubase LE, will that do?

Lastly, Should I just discard the ASR10? After I have all the sequencing software etc, will I really need it? I suppose I could still use it for sampling, or as a midi device....

Suggestions anyone. I really dont know what Im doing. I just want an easy way to make music, and make mixCDs from LP.

I would sell the asr since any modern soft sampler will run circles around that beast but other than that, sounds like your ready to go. I am a big fan of cubase so LE should get you started.

If you want to be really slick, get a pair of RIAA phono amps and split the outputs to go to your DJ mixer AND directly in to your comp on 2 separate stereo channels, do your thing and you will have an EDITABLE recording where you can manaully do your fades and fix any mistakes :)

thanks altitude,

I was afraid I would be reading something along those lines. The ASR is such a respected peice of equipment. Its sworn by in the hiphop communities, and thats really why I bought it. But it really is an antique. I just dont have the time to fiddle through all those screens when the same function can be completed in two mouse clicks. Oh well. Maybe Ill keep it as a collectors item.

Ill look into the double amp idea.

Any other ideas are appreciated.

Oh, dont get me wrong, its a nice sampler and if you really learned it well, it is still relevent and very usable but the learning curve is steep

maybe its too late for anyone to see this, - but do you suppose it would be terribly difficult to just use the ASR as a midi controller. or is that still too much work than it is convinient. i guess im asking - should i purchase a complete new keyboard?
