My wife's using a really sweet rig we've had for quite a while -(vintage 95' IIRC) 'Studio 220', 200 watts/4 ohms, one Goliath II 2-10 8 ohm, one 4-10. I wired the 4-10 to 4 ohm so it's at least doing more of the work in this imbalanced single amp setup. Now she's working with an at times fairly loud band and maxing out her rig.
It looks to me we're likely way more under powered on the amp end than the speakers. I'm thinking the '220 to the two ten and a second power amp for the four ten. Added bulk but probably cheaper the a whole new one.

Whad'ya think? Just double checking my assumptions here. Suggestions?

I find 200 watts to be not enough for anything louder than moderate levels for bass regardless of speakers, so I do think you need some more power.
OTOH, if you get enough power ..... she can probably get by with just the 4-10 cab. But if you want to use both, then an extra power amp would be the easiest way to beef it up exactly like you've suggested.

As a side note ..... if you're running one cab at 8 ohms and the other at 4, you getting a total load of less than 4 ohms ...... forgot the exact number and don't feel like exerting myself to figure it out but somewhere around 3 point ...... something. :)
Probably not low enough to harm the amp , probably i said! ..... but definitely below its' rating of 4 ohms.

well it's really a load of like 2.666666666.... so NOT a good idea for most amps... sorry to tell you but sounds as if a new rig is in order unless she's pretty heavily in the mains... think about a bass pre and a crown or qsc or similar... i bought a qsc plx1804 not long ago and i've been digin it for my keys rig...
