jason,

I like this idea!! But i don't know how good "this" individual track can sound?? i mean it sound's good enough alright! But it sound's like your just dropping the stick's on the drum's, it's not very powerfull, ya know?? and no amount of EQ, or effect's can fix that. BANG THOSE PUPPY'S!!!!!:D

look, i really don't know what i'm talking about, i thought i would give you my "preference" as to how to make this track sound better.
and i think you need to retrack first. it's to "lazy" sounding??

just an observation:D and again, i am no authority!!:D

Thank's jason!!

uhmmm, you're right. I'm a pretty light handed player. So, I can't redo it tonight, But I can in the morning. I didn't realize that how hard i'm playing would affect the mixing. The recording levels would have to be changed, so is it the dynamics or what? I'm kind of confused (and getting tired ) I'll think about it somemore on a different level and retrack in the a.m. Thanks though. You're completely right about playing soft. Funny how you picked up on that....

think of it like a singer who just hitting note's with no emotion. it may sound nice, but it does nothing for the song, if anything it brings it down. i'm not saying this won't work for a certain style of song, it may!! but the lack of "feel" will show through, not tone or tightness of playing will make up for no emotion. I hope i am making sense??? and i could be way off!! hopefully someone else with a better ear will come by and set you on the path to sonic bliss!!!:D

Thank's jason!!!!!

yeah, it does sound like you played it really softly. It's not the level issue, meaning even if i turned the volume all the way up, it still sounds like someone played it softly, and the fact hats are almost as loud, if not louder than the snare.

I don't think that playing hard necessarily adds more emotion (although in some cases I suppose it could). In this case I think its really about the sound of drum changing as you hit it harder. All I can really hear in your toms, etc. it the top head resonating on its own - no/little resonance from the drum itself hence no body to the drum sounds. The kick drum needs to be tuned better, it sounds pretty weak.

Where did you have your three mics positioned? That would be the next thing to experiment with a little.

This is what i was "trying" to say, i cant get my point accross in type very well:D The sound of the drum has no "emotion", hence "feeling" is lost. They are not "singing", and it will show in the mix. ok i'm done!:D
