help me I have no idea what I'm doing

Like it says above, I have no idea what I'm doing: so if I just list what I want to do and hopefully you can help me.

Alright, my band has 2 guitars, bass/vocals, drums, and lead vocalist. We are new to the music world and just started. We are getting a P.A. system and lookin' for a recorder and we don't know how to set it up or what should be recommened and we basically need to know every little detail. WWe are planning on recording and making a cd in the long run and don't know what equipment we need other than our amplifiers, drum set, mic(s), and a recording devise(obviously). And we don't knowwhere to start so if anyone could help us, we would appreciate it very much.

Immediately get a good beginner recording book (spend $20 before spending hundred$/thousand$) that shows you what you need to get started and how to hook everything up in your studio:

I concur, read everything on the tweakheadz site, you should get a pretty good idea of how it's done and what you will need to do it there. Audacity is a good (free) bit of software for learning the basics of digital recording. Don't get discouraged if your first few attempts sound like crap, practice, experience and experimentation are the ways to learn the art of recording. When you find something that works, keep doing it, when you run into problems come back and ask, someone around here has "been there, done that" and can help you out. When you ask questions around here, be as specific as possible, the better you can describe a problem the better the answers will be. Welcome aboard.
