help me I have no idea what I'm doing

Like it says above, I have no idea what I'm doing: so if I just list what I want to do and hopefully you can help me.

Alright, my band has 2 guitars, bass/vocals, drums, and lead vocalist. We are new to the music world and just started. We are getting a P.A. system and lookin' for a recorder and we don't know how to set it up or what should be recommened and we basically need to know every little detail. WWe are planning on recording and making a cd in the long runand don't know what equipment we need other than our amplifiers, drum set, mic(s), and a recording devise(obviously). And we don't knowwhere to start so if anyone could help us, we would appreciate it very much.

Start with making everything sound good coming through the PA system. The best and easiest way is to mic the instruments and then mix the volumes together until they sound good. Learning how to do that proficiently is another ball of wax but if you do that much you are halfway there. Then you can slap a recorder onto the channels and record them dry. You can add effects later on.

I'd do some serious research on what equipment to buy. Recording equipment eats up your money real fast if you aren't careful. Improve your soundchain one piece at a time because your weakest link is as good as the sound will be and what you buy today may make what you bought yesterday obselete.

Your education is your best resource.
