Been trying to figure this out for a little while now, havin a hard time. Trying to make a tab of it for a friend.

I'm pretty sure there's a capo on the 2nd fret and it's in the key of D (well, E major since there's a capo).

Anyway, it's about 30 seconds long, and it's just an acoustic guitar.

Big Daddy Weave - Fields of Grace - Prelude

Sorry cant help you, just wanted to say I like Bid Daddy Weave as well :) dindt figure anyone on here would know BDW.

Yea I've only listened to a couple of his songs. I really like this acoustic piece though and I wanna figure it out. I'd also like to know what kind of guitar it is, sounds like a Maton or a nice Martin. The low end does anyway.

Edit: NM, misunderstood how you were getting that key

EDIT: You changed your post, you sneaky bastard. ;)

Danny: Have you tried figuring out what the chord changes are? If you can get that far, then it's just a matter of picking out which chord tones are being played, and if there are any non chord tones. And yes, you're on the right track, it is in E.

hint: it's two simple progressions, each repeated once, and the last one doesn't resolve. It's better if you figure it out on your own, but if you're absolutely stuck, I can help you.

First off, I don't know shit about music theory. So keep that in mind.

What I thought was, it was in the Key of D. It uses mostly D and G chords from what I could tell. Now, since there is a capo on the 2nd fret, those would be E and F# chords. So that would make it the key of E.

Even though you're playing D and G chord shapes, those are actually E and F# chords. So that would make it the key of E, right?

Anyway, regardless of what key it's in, I'm havin a hell of a time tryin to figure it out. :( Hope someone can help.

So, a song played as if it's in they key of D, but raised 1 whole step because of the capo, woudl make it the key of E right?

Which part are you stuck on? What else have you figured out?

Not even the first few measures to be honest. :( I think it starts in D with the 2nd fret of the low E string fretted, so:

2 X X 2 3 0

Could be (and probably am) wrong though.

Alright, it sounds like a I vi IV V progression in E, so that would be E C#m A B. I haven't picked up my guitar yet, but that's what it sounds like. Repeat that progression, then try E F#m G#m A B twice. That should be the whole thing. If those chords don't sound right, I apologize, I don't have my guitar on hand.

Tune your guitar to open D and capo the second fret. That should get you
started.

D up two semitones is an E
G up two semitones is an A
