Help me configure a hardware/software setup

I just bought a computer, what is the best way to operate everything?, I have an ASR10 i will use to control the softsynths and I also want to use it for drum tracks on its own sequencer. I have a few rack modules and an X3 keyboard I don't use. Should I use the X3 to sequence the racks or use a program? I plan to use Muzys to start off then maybe get into FL.

pentium4 2.8 800fsb, 1gb ram,160 gb sata drive, will probably use an emu1212 sound card.
