My girlfriend decided she was going to throw down some cash for me and buy me a new mic this month. The problem is that im not really sure what i want.
I currently own:
5 shure sm-57s
2-shure 58s
1-shure beta 52
2 Ev-635a
2-mxl 603s
1- At 3035
1- At pro 25

The mics that are really next on my list are a little pricy sennheiser 441, beyer m201 or m88. Shes looking to spend around 100 dollars. I think i have enough mics to cover instruments so im thinking get another large diaphragm condenser. In the 100 price range that leaves the SP B1, Mxl v67g and Oktava mk-319 i believe. Which of these condensers do you think would be a different flavor than my at-3035 but still be good in most general use? I know it really depends but im just trying to make up my mind lol. Is there another mic in this range im overlooking that i should be getting? Thanks guys

Out of the three $100 mics you listed..... I'd take the V67G.

Any change you could try all three to find out which sounds best on your voice?

You really can't go wrong with either the B1 or the V67. The Oktava could be crapshoot qualitywise. My own preference, owning both the SP and the Marshall is the B1. I find it to be pretty versatile. I'm not familiar with the sound of the AT you own, so it could cover the same ground sonically as the B1.

I own both the 67 and the B1. Both are fine mics. To my ear, the 67 is a bit more colored (great for some vocals) while the B1 is a bit more neutral - good for lots of situations, not just vocals. If at all possible, test both mics for yourself.

I have the SP B1 and the MK319. On my voice I love the B1. I plan to buy a V67G though as I've heard good things about it, but it will have to be really good to replace the B1 for my voice. The Oktava works for some things, but it is a little dull sounding for most of what I need. IMO you can't go wrong with the SP B1.

Blessings, Terry

let me add a little more

im not a singer so there is no chance that I will try it on my voice lol. I do demos for my band and my friends bands in my spare time. If i did sing there would probably be little chance that i would get a hold of one of these in my area. We have one music store and they have a very very small and limited mic selection (peavey, shure).
It seems like the B1 is going to be the most versatile from what ive been reading. It sucks that the v67g looks alot cooler lol. thanks for the replys guys.
While im at it, who has the cheapest price on the b1 and a shockmount? and the v67 plus a shockmount?

Humbucker Music (www.humbuckermusic.com) is offering the B1 w/ Shockmount for $109.74 with Free Shipping right now. They also take Pay Pal. They don't carry Marshall, but the standard price seems to be $99 for the V67.

Hope that helps.

thanks

chessparov- i definantly plan on picking up an m88 at some point. i borrowed one from a friend awhile back and thought it was pretty cool.
Meshugga- the multi-pattern will prob also be on the priority list very soon. Any recommendations? Studio projects b3 and c3 are ones i think of right off.
