Ok, I install the 1010 card, hook everything up, and my new box (with Phillips 24x writer/48x reader) wont read the driver CD. It just keeps saying "insert CD" .
So, I come in here to the ole crappy Celeron machine, put the CD in the old crappy reader, and it reads it all just fine, shows that it exsists.
I have taken it out and put it back in a few times, yet it never shows there is a CD in the drive. It is a new drive, reads everything else fine. I am running XP with an Athlon XP and VIA KT266a.
Already this is going to give me a damn headache. SHort on patience BEFORE I started this.
Can anyone help me please?
Might wanna email me instead, or post here and email your reply to, as I'll get it faster.

"Please insert a disk into drive D"
That is all I get every time. No reason for this that I can see. Making me crazy already. It just doesnt wanna read it for some reason.

Have you tried just downloading the newer drivers from the M-Audio website? I don't know if your Delta requires the original drivers to be installed prior to upgrading or not.

Its a true DAW, all audio, no modem...
so...
I had someone else download the drivers and went and picked them up. Well, it reads the CD fine, but I still cant install them, its not really intuitive at all, just there... and when you open it it asks for a directory to place them in and whatever...
so...
I load it onto my desktop so that I know where it is for quick reference... it placed about 6 folders on the desktop, and none of them open except for one called "revisions" without having a particular program to open them with.
What to do?

I just emailed thier tech support, and of course its friday night and they'll prob not get back to me until mon or tues, and I'll be totally furious and will have bashed this thing apart by then.
Any ideas?

Have you tried tossing the CD drive the Celeron temporarily to see if you can get the drivers installed that way? I don't see why your DAW reads other CD's and this one is giving it a fit. The only other thing I can think of off the top of my head is that Drive D: is not being seen as your CDR-W.

You didn't give it a destination folder by the sounds of things. You are looking at various files, not folders.

After double clicking the self-extractor, enter something like

c:\deltadriver

Answer 'yes' create the directory.

Then go to device manager, find the unknown multimedia device or whatever it may be called on your system, properties, update driver and point it to c:\deltadriver

Even though you extracted the files to the desktop it should still work. You may be looking for an instant setup file...

No such thing for the delta.

-Device Manager
-Find the device, may be called 'unknown' or 'multimedia device'
-double click it
-select update driver
-point it to the folder you extracted the self-extracting zip contents to.

You should also think about getting an ethernet card for your DAW. Some purists might think it's a sin, but they're full of shit. Your life would be 100X easier if you could fly files to & from your DAW.

Also, the Delta drivers are under 800KB. Do you have a floppy in your DAW at least? They'll fit on a floppy.

P.S., the drivers on the CDROM could be many months or years old. The delta series drivers have gone through many large overhauls and it's definately worth it to be running something recent. The latest set from May is very decent.

Yeah Tube, I also think you should get the updated drivers on floppy and then try to install them. I think the ones that come with the card are from the last millenium.:D

Alright Emeric, I'll try that right now, just printed it out... lets hope that works... really wanna play around with this before I leave for vacation.
Thanks....

Ok, I cant find a self extractor. The newest version for XP is an .exe file, but I cant get it to do anything. Gonna keep trying here... let me know if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong here.

Thank you Emeric!
Got em installed... now I just gotta figure out what to do in Sonar to get em going since there is a huge list of ins and outs on there now.
Anyone know the quick way about it, I just wanna hear it work...

go to options-> audio-> drivers and just high lite delta 1/2 3/4 5/6 7/8 and the Spdif ins and out...i'm not sure what the multin/out joint is for though
