HELP LELP and double HELP

I had a bit of hardware problem which I thought I sorted out.......
Any how ALL my .wave files and even mpeg's are playing twice as fast...what's the story with that..I've uninstalled a few audio programs that I've downloaded but it still does it..
Any help out there PLEASE
 
Try checking the sampling rate. If it changed then your clock may be off a bit. (a bit off yer clock....hmmmmmm) Anyway, look at all your sound card settings in detail.

I got rid of all related files to do with some of the software I decided not to use,rebooted and now it seems to work.fingers crossed;)

Is it possible to have too much Audio software on the system?
 
The reboot may have done the trick. I guess you could have too much but if the files are not inuse then how can they affect the system? Unless they were in use? I had the same problem on a recording I did. The clock was accelerating as I recorded. And I sounded like the chipmunks. If you'd like to hear it let me know....it's just too funny...
