Help improve my recording quality? (Acoustic)

hello,
i record some songs with my friend and they come out eh, but i wanna kno what i can do to better them. i use an $80 single input interface, which i know isnt good, but i dont think its the problem. the only voice effect i use is slight reverb cause idk wha VST's could make it sound beter. and we use a mic to record my friends martin. the only problem i see in our recordings is the voice a little bit, hes not the greatest singer but i wanna be able to capture his voice better.

What microphone are you using? What DAW? What about your 'studio' - any room sound treatment?

I doubt if he has an $80 interface that there is any room treatment.
