For starters, try using punctuation in your posts.

How many inputs does your sound card have?

That will dictate how many simultaneous tracks you have available for recording drums

Sorry it wa late lastnight in a rush also, audio media III has 4 inputs 2 anolog and 2 digital spdif. There all rca jacks on card.... Is this normal for spdif? Also is sm57 good for kick drum or no wand best sound for cheap!! So what kind of cable do i need to come from a m audio duo to a audio media III {spdif? with rca on one end?} Please help
No im not a drumer can play a little but i own a set. When people use it i wana record them so im wondering good setup!!! I know how to mic guitar and what to use!!!!!!!

OK, the s/pdif inputs are no good to you until to need to capture a digital signal. What you've got is 2 analog inputs so you can record 2 tracks at a time.

Hang one of the condensor mics over the kit, and put the sm57 in front of the kick. Plug the mics either into the mixer or into the m-audio preamp, and run the outputs into the 2 analog inputs of the soundcard. Arm 2 tracks to record in your software, and you're set.

Run your soundcard outputs either straight into powered monitors/stereo amplifier, or run them back into the mixer then out to your monitors

cant i get a pre amp with spdif and record two more channels? and if so what are some the M-audio duo i read wont run right on win xp
