SITUATION:

My music is in midi on my sequencer
My adats are syncing fine in absolute time
Now when I record into track one on my adat
I'm getting a bleed,

basically I can hear (ALL THE MUSIC) playing on the same channel I recorded my lead vocal. Headphones (7506), MIC AKG2000B

I know this happens, but when I play back tracks 2,3,4 and I hear the bleed of the track on EACH one it gets --irritating--
any questions on how to eleviate this.

Wassup Tim!!!

..... you prob'ly know this anyway, but have your tried placing a limiter/gate on the affected tracks to eliminate bleed!!??

Yuuup

Yuuuup I tried that, but I'm thinking now as I type, did I push that damn cable all the way in.

I recently re-wired my studio, it could be that my compressor/gate
was not pushed all the way in, now that I think about it.
Simply cause I never had this problem before. I think the client I had is bad luck, he's always giving me new things to catch after he finishes his session.

He sat in my (ENGINEER/PRODUCER) chair ----that's a NO, NO
and I think his knee hit a button on my adat, cause nothing would come up via optical on my mixer, Maaaan I was heated
I stayed up for 5 hours on Sunday night trying to fix the situation
----I did---- and I missed the VH1 Special on NOTORIOUS B.I.G

I was mad

uhhh MisterQCue umm dumb question here, but here it goes
can the ADAT XT ------not XT20 ---- but XT read a 20 bit formatted tape, or can I switch it from 16 bit to 20 on the XT?

I think NOT, but I'm at work right now, and I'm not thinking clearly

No question is ever dumb!

Nah! I tried to have my 20 bit-tapes play on my friends blackface with no luck however I can use 16 bit XT's on the XT20 for play/record OR slave the XT using the XT20 as master in 16.
