so im a total moron recording-wise...ive got a yamaha md-s, a bellari rp503 mic-pre, and a 6 pack drum kit mic set made by audix (i think thats the name, the mics are at a friends house and i cant check the name) ive done a bit of recording and such but i am by no means profficient, i can do all the things that the manual says (recording, bumping tracks, etc.) but i just want to know about beginner things like drum mic placement, mic placement for guitar amps, bass....everything (direct in etc), and recomended equipment purchases, also, click tracks (im not sure of the exact terminology)...if anyone could please explain that to me...do you just plug in a metrinome for about the length of the song and then have your drummer go at it while playing along with the metrinome track then overdub everything else from there? k thanks

tyler...welcome.
Time to get into some serious reading.
Check out the variety of Home Recording magazines. The names are too numerous to list them here, but they are out there at most magazine stands.
My personal preference. "Recording" Good, honest equipment reviews, a lot of insight into the Home Studio environment, and a great feature called "Oops, wrong button" takes you throught all those mysterious buttons, faders, switches, busses, the whole nine yards.I have gotten TONS of valuable info. from this mag.
Good luck in your endeavours tyler.

Welcome a´bord my friend,what i want t to say to you is that you try to see it as two different "cenarios" ,
One thing is the music you are trying to record from people who´s playing it in real time/real world,and another thing are the machines you´re going to record and capture all that they´re doing into;
So if you first know what they are at,in it´s essence,then you try to make a "mirror-copy",or whatever,of what they´re doing musically...into the whatever you are recording into...
I know this sounds like bla-bla-bla but,...honestly, i havent seen those links posted for your guide before,but sure they are a way for you to start...but ,anyway, this is the site, so ...
