Ok, ive got a 1010 LT running next to a 410. I'm doing drum tracks with my band and they sound great (almost). The only problem is during level setting. Six mics are running to the 1010, and two are running to the 410 (because the first 2 analog ins on the 1010 are xlr and my Mackie 1604 vlz doesnt have xlr outs). During sound check when im telling my drummer to hit the floor tom, teh snare, the cymbals, it all sounds dandy. Then i tell him to hit the bass drum and no sound comes through those mics. I see the faders (on cubase sx) jump but no sound from those two mics (d112 and a sp c1) comes out of my speakers.

I realize that this simply means that the inputs on teh 410 aren't monitoring through the outputs of the 1010 along with the 1010 inputs. How can i get them to do this? You would think cubase would just make all tracks monitor through the same master output. The harware wav out 1/2 (to my speakers) is set to monitor master because when i set it to wav out 1/2 no sound comes out at all (except when i play something back). I just want to monitor in real time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What if you connected two cables from outputs one and two on the 410, plug that into a spare set of channels on your mixer and monitor from there? So you would have 4 sets (or two if they are stereo channels on the board), 2 for the 1010's playback, and 2 for the 410.

Or, buy a couple XLR to TRS cables.

I believe the reason the 1010LT has XLR inputs on Chl 1 & 2 is because they have preamps built into these channels - which means you don't need to go through the Mackie at all. You should be able to plug your mics directly into these XLR's and bypass the Mackie altogether.

However, you really should be able to get things to work in the configuration you are now using. I don't use Cubase, but I'm sure there has to be a way to assign the output for each Track. You want the Track inputs to be assigned to the 410, but the outputs to be assigned to the 1010LT. Check you manual on input/output assignments. Or try posting in the Cubase forum.

In the meantime you can route all your mics through the 1010LT as described above.
