@jimmys69

I just pulled up an old mix on Cubase, disabled one of the connections and bounced it, and heard it in stereo through itunes! Although i do have a different version of cubase.

and @Jakayboy

Those are your inputs. Click on Outputs and show us a picture of that. That may be your problem

Open your mixer and just check to make sure your master out pan didn't get bumped.

Well I am at a loss! haha. Try the mixer like Jimmy said. Oh hey, just to do this now so you won't wonder why later. Click on the empty "Click" box on your outputs panel. That will allow you to hear the click track if you ever use it.

Nevermind. I can see the peak meters in the transport window. All is there in Cubase. Somewhere between your interface or the interface itself is wrong. Change the cable. If that don't work you probably have a bad Tascam.

hmmm ive clicked it
so its not cubase
its not the headphones because they work
nor the adapter between 1/4 and 1/8 because that worked before on recording cos then i could listen on both ears
so maybe its something to do with the tascam or the usb wire?
do you think i should ask in the tascam thread and see if any one else has suffered the same problem ?

Make sure to mess with that 1/4 to 1/8" adapter. Those things are friggen crap and always go bad. That is most likely your problem. Check the headphones first. If not that for sure, then try post in Tascam forum. Tho I have never heard of this.

ok thanks alot!
it could well be the 1/4 1/8 adapter
it is pretty rubbish and it was like £2.00 or something in maplins

I've never heard of this either. I've been searching around the internet about the same problem and the answer is always "make sure it's recorded in mono." or "check the outputs" as i mentioned earlier. I'm gonna guess it's a problem with the interface. My Tascam had some issues too. You can go to Tascam for help, but they always ask me. "Do you have the right firmware installed?" The answers always a frikken YES! haha Horrible tech service... After that, i switched to a MOTU converter.

I'm gonna lay $5 on the adapter being your issue. I have never had one last for any length of time. Easily 20 have pissed me off over time. Pull it apart then push it together while listening.

Please post on here if the adapter is your problem or not. As it could come in handy for anyone who has the same problem!

I have a solution that has nothing to do with the hardware. It is a bug in Cubase that has something to do with the panner. I also have experienced this problem (in fact, not a couple of days ago I did) many times and I stumbled upon the solution a while ago. This is a bug that occurs through all Cubase versions as I have all of them and have experienced it throughout.

All you have to do is right click the panner of the bus in question (most likely the stereo master bus if you're working internally) and re-select the panner of your choice. It should fix the problem.

I find that if you're using the stereo combined panner (where you can pan the L and R signals independently), it can sometimes push both L and R signals to the left, even though the panner says they are in their correct respective positions. If you go back to the standard panner from the stereo combined panner as described above, it should be all the way to the left. It's weird, I know, but it's a flaw in Cubase that has not been resolved yet.

Hope that helps.

Cheers :)

Thanks everyone it was the crappy 1/4 to 1/8 converters fault

jimmys69 wins $5
and sorry mo facta i tried the converter on another machine my synth and it did the same thing and so now i use a red and white cable plugged into my stereo which is complicated but it works from the line out in the tascam
maybe mo facta is on to something but my cubase worked after i used the different input with out the adapter

yeah sorry about taking so long i completely forgot to reply
