For the past 8 months or so, I have been using a pre-owned Presonus Firebox and it has gotten me by. However, I have noticed that lately the mic pres are noisy even with the slightest bit of gain and I'm looking to replace it with something quieter.

I've read great things about Focusrite mic pres and am considering getting a Scarlett 8i6. I've also read great things about the NI Komplete Audio 6 interface (though not specifically the pres - most reviews gush about the bundled software). I'm trying to decide between the two and hope anyone with experience with either or both can help give me some perspective from personal use.

Thanks.

I heard the converters in the Komplete Audio 6 are great! Doesn't guitaristic have that interface? Maybe you could ask him about it.

Scarlet 8i6 is better, you know M-Audo stuff isnt bad either

I've read and far more mixed reviews about M-Audio interfaces than positive. The only one I would be interested in would be the Profire 610. I actually purchased a hand-me-down Profire 610 as my first real AI....plugged it in and all I got was static - nothing plugged in except headphones, not even hooked up the the computer, -40dB gain...nothing but static. I gave it back to the seller, and picked up the Firebox instead. Probably had more to do with that particular AI being totally damaged when it was sold to me and less to do with M-Audio products overall - but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
