Help! choir/organ miking, no time to shop!

Waaah!

My choir (the Madonna University Chorale, no relation to Ms. Ciccone) has a concert Friday night - as in tomorrow. My prof found out I have a VS-840, wants me to record. Second concert on Sunday, same deal.

I have Sound Room matched MC012 hypers on order, with an x-y mount and shocks, but they just shipped yesterday, so I doubt I'll get 'em in time.

So here are my choices:

2 Behringer ECM-8000s into a Behringer 1002 into my VS-840, or

2 SM-57s straight into the VS-840, or

miking with mismatched mics (I also have a Sennheiser 421, Baby Bottle, MK-319, and an SM-58 - oh, and just for laughs, a green bullet). Stuck with just 2 signals, though I could submix - 840 can't handle more at normal resolution. I need the 1002 for phantom power if I'm gonna use condensors.

it's about 30 voices, plus a pipe organ. We're singing Vivaldi, Alfred Burt, and a bunch of Rutter/Willcocks carol arrangements.

Bigass pipe organ (43-stop Schantz) for Friday's concert, pipes in center at front, dry room. Sunday's concert has a somewhat underpowered pipe organ (17-stop Casavant), pipes on each side (still in front), more reverberant room.

What do I use??? No time to buy anything (except maybe phantom power if there's a compelling reason to use a condensor and NOT use the 1002).

I'm also willing to record in mono (though I'll then need some instruction in "remastering to stereo" tricks) - the 840 only gives me 23 minutes in stereo at normal resolution. Mono would buy me twice that. So your advice there would help too.

Get the Behringer ECM8000's and either use a Jecklin disk, or space them wide. Move mics in or out to balance choir against the organ.
 
Jecklin disk? I'll do some research, but I'm not familiar with that setup.

Do I need an AudioBuddy, or just stick with the 1002 mixer?

If the mixer has phantom power, you should be fine.

It's a soft disc about the diameter of a human head. The mics are placed about 6 or 7" apart, with the disc in between the mics. You can make a disc using a couple of mouse pads and a stiffener between them, either a piece of metal or wood.

If you have a copy of the "Monsters, Inc." DVD, they show one in the making of the soundtrack. feature.

Harvey, my girlfriend tells me that sometimes I need a stiffener. Do you think such a setup might work for her (our) purposes?
 
You can also try a severed head with a few holes drilled in it.

Actually, the Sound Room MC-012s showed up! I bought an AudioBuddy, x-y'd the mics...

...and only one channel worked. Didn't have time to fix, so we have a mono recording now. We'll try again Sunday - I'll bring some better cables.
