Hi, I have a huge problem!!!!

I cannot get my new mic to work correctly, it is a Audio Technica 2020 condenser mic. I know the mic works fine because ive used it on a friends computer and it worked great.

I am running Windows 7 and I am using ACID PRO 6.0

My problem is that I cannot get the mic to record correctly without ALOT of distortion. If I set the mic gain to a normal level (keeping it in the green) the sound waves are like....ridicoulously huge, as if I was screaming into the mic and getting it into the red. I can get decent quality if I turn the mic gain all the way down so where it doesnt pic it up on the light at all...and if im really quiet...but there is that annoying "static sound" and I know that shouldnt be there....and to top it all off.....the only way I can even get THESE results is if I mute the recording volume in the mic settings on my computer!!! wtf??

Any suggestions?

Are you talking about an AT2020 USB mic or a regular AT2020? The AT2020 doesn't plug into a computer. It requires some kind of interface. It sounds like you have a USB mic, because it is doing *something*. If so, you almost certainly have some wrong setting in the software-Richie

Or the microphone is broken and you'll need to send it back for a new one.
