Whats up everybody?...I just moved up from Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 to Cakewalk Sonar 2.0 XL...Weellllllll in the midst of the transition I uninstalled Pro Audio 9 and now Im trying to record in Sonar and I CANT EVEN ARM THE TRACKS...I cant select my audio inputs... When I first open the program it says the following:

"The following driver(s) either do not support the current audio format, or are in use by another application.

Please choose whether you want to disable them or use them anyway"

What does this mean....and why cant I hear any audio??????????? HElp please......I have work to do and Im stuck!>>!!!

Thats a sound card driver problem, probably you have conflict with your soundcard driver or you got rid of some dll files when you uninstalled Pro audio 9. This is very common so don't panic, Sonar is a little picky, try to download the latest driver from your sound card website and reinstall Sonar till you get it right.

Sonar will give you this message when it's not happy with your soundcard (either the card itself or the drivers). Please select one of the following:
- If you have an onboard built-in soundcard, get a new one (they suck anyway, so it's not a big loss :D).
- If you have SB Live! or similar, update the drives.
- If you have a more "professional" card (maybe the Audiophile 2496), then there's something wrong either a conflict (as Jeyan said) or bad/missing drivers. Remove and re-install with new drivers.

And don't worry... removing PA9 will not affect Sonar in any way (not that Cakewalk is aware of, anyway ;)).

Good luck! :)

...and datboylamar, you better explain what's your current sound card & OS ;)

Good Posting Moskus, looks like so many are having problems with Sonar and soundcard drivers. It would be easy to analyze these thing if the postings have soundcard name and other gear details.

Thanks...

So far: SiS, AC97, SB Live with old drivers doesen't work with Sonar... ;)

Yeah, and sometimes, if you have any Voice Modem device installed in your machine with older driver, you'll get this "doesn't support" popup also ;)
