Help - 24/48 Dio Not working

O.k. I'm having problems with my new sound card :(

I think it has all installed right and I might have made a big misteak. Im plugging the tape out of my Mackie 1202 mixer into the inputs of the card using rca cables. What I've just noticed, is that the card says S/PIDF in :(

So can the signal from my mixer not travel in through theses inputs??

Please respond quickly, I'm going crazy .....
 
Sonar...

I forgot to add, when I open up Sonar it gives me an error message saying

The following audio divers do not support the current audio format or are used by another program...

I also have a Soundblaster live in my computer.
 
There are no analogue inputs on the Dio, only digital.

You'll need a stand alone digital converter between your desk and the card, or a sound card with analogue inputs, or a desk with a digital output.

Hes absolutley right, that card has NO analog inputs, only a L/R analog output for monitoring. Take it back and get a different one

Stupid me lol

Oh well, I'm gunna put it back up on eBay.

I'm going to buy my next sound card new.

The one I should have got is the M-Audio, Delta 24/96, right?

Well I think I just took a step forward then took 3 steps back. lol hopefully the mics I have in the mail B-1 and two C301's won't be the wrong ones some how lol... I'm having bad luck....


The 24/96 will interface correctly with my Mackie 1202-vlx mixer and Sonar 2.0 xl correct?

I think you are thinking of the M-Audio Audiophile 2496.
 
Just a comment before your DiO 24/48 is sold...

You could also consider buying an outboard A/D converter. If you got lucky, it might be possible to get one with better A/D conversion than the Audiophile 24/96 has onboard. For the price of the Audiophile though, that might be hard. Maybe have a look at least though just to make sure?

I was in a similar situation, already having a Dio 24/96 (it also has no analog inputs or onboard A/D converters). I purchased a dbx 386 from ebay for $300 and kept the Dio 24/96 instead of trying to sell it and getting another card. Probably cost me ~$150 more that way, but I got what most people consider to be superior A/D conversion, as well as two channels of useable mic preamps.

Dunno though... with the DiO 24/48 you'd miss the 88.1 kHz and 96 kHz options, and might regret that later. If I had the DiO 24/48 instead of the DiO 24/96 I might have gone the route others are suggesting.

Just a thought, probably a bad one. :D
