Lizard People
Okay, this is a weird song about a Norman Rockwell B-17 pilot, if you can dig it.

Looking for mixing suggestions. None of the songs I am posting are "done", but are pretty close to it, I reckon.

Love the textures here. Those acoustic guitars sound really interesting here...loose is the only word that I can think of. Not the performance (which sounds perfect to me), but the attack. I like it, I just can't place why they sound distinct to me.

Vocal performance sounds great. They're a little too hyped in the mid-high/high frequencies for my tastes, as are the drum overheads.

Damn man, this is a great song. I stopped listening for critique about half way through. I just wanted to hear the song. Nice job!

I really like this a lot.. very well done all around. You even managed to make the plane sound effect fit without sounding cheesy. I do think the ride cymbal overtakes a little bit in some parts, and the really high notes sound like you might be straining a bit. This would fit right in with the stuff I hear on the classic rock station, it's a cool song! I think the mix and performance nail that what is it... 70's.. 80's?? vibe perfectly.

Thanks, Eric. I appreciate the listen. It's pretty period stuff for sure. And I am definitely straining on a few notes, inconveniently situated near the top of my range. Instead of fixing everything or going for lots of takes, like we would have done on the past two records, we just let good takes go wherever possible. I don't know if it delivers a better result overall, but it sure saves time. :)

Love the Bvox.
Bass is really good - tone & lines.
Is that the "new" bassist?
That mellotron tone at about 2.10 is grand.
gasp finish!
Is good oh!

This track is most engaging. There is no dull moment in this sonic landscape. The arrangement, the structure, particular the chord progressions, and the performance are all excellent (particularly those B notes you are hitting).

Because the track was so enthralling, I was quite happy to listen to it just as it is.

Nice job, I did find the cymbals a little dominating, thought the drums were at a good level overall in the chorus/instrumental places, but a little loud in the verses.

Sounds very good to me. Like a cross between Yes and David Bowie.

The only thing I would change is the level of the hi-hat in places, chorus' and solo). I found that a touch too loud. The rest sounds pretty much bang on.

Really dig the tune, thanks for sharing. This is going in my HR folder. :thumbs up:

Thanks, man - that's awesome.

You are right about the hat being loud in places. I can't really change it now, but part of what sounds bad is the MP3 just shredding the brass generally.

Excellent! No mix problems for me. Like Gekko said - it just stays interesting from start to finish. Vocals are amazing as always...
I love the bass definition - if you can share the chain it would be great. I could use some of that magic!

It's an Ibanez something or another five string, active pickups, direct into a Great River MP2NV. That is all.

Whatever mixing fine points there are are always trumped by the song and production.
As I said in a previous post, good solid songwriting. I've liked everything I have heard.

While this ventures into classic rock territory that I don't generally gravitate towards, I enjoyed the whole production.

I am partial to higher register lead vocals, and these are pretty amazing frankly. Really nice job with that. There are plenty of other good sounds going on throughout.

The only thing (and I'm listening on tracking phones HD280's if it matters) is that the kit (particularly the snare) sounded a bit dull and/or boxy for this tune maybe? I dunno. I just think a crisper snare sound might compliment things better. Just throwing that out there even though this is way out of my league.
