Hello Music Lovers,

I want to introduce myself and tell you about something new and exciting to the music world. Real music is exciting, it makes you think, and it conveys emotions and ideas. Music is a rare art; a combination of poetry, musicianship, theater, engineering, and management. It takes different skills to write, record, and perform music. Real artists are a truly a unique breed.

If you're like me, and I’m sure you are since you are a part of this forum, you can’t get enough. I love listening to music, reading about my favorite musicians, watching videos, and talking about them with my friends. There has been some documentaries on some famous bands, “the making of” of some famous albums, and “in the studio” with some famous artists; but there has never really been any T.V. shows that would give you a look into all areas of music, or a show that was from the record labels point of view.

I introduce to you not just a show from the labels point of view, but a show that follows the owners as they create a new record label. The first season will show how we create our label, find new talent, record their album, release their album, and take them on tour. Viewers will have an all access pass to behind the music industry. Since YouTube is the global cable box, we are creating a web-series.

I should take a moment to tell you that this label is a bit different from the major labels you are used to. We are creating an artist friendly record label. We are musicians and we love the art that is music; not this overproduced and generic garbage that floods our ears. This is a label by music lovers for music lovers. We want to release the best music.

This project is actually on Kickstarter right now: Tetmure Records - A webseries about the future of music. by Tetmure Records — Kickstarter

If you like the idea, help us out. This will not happen without support. On Kickstarter you can watch our videos and get more information about what we are doing. If you don’t know how Kickstarter works, projects are posted that need funding. Anyone who likes the project can back it and we will provide you with rewards for your contribution. We will also be providing backers with exclusive content for the next year.

I don’t want you to think this is just a post and ghost. We are creating this series for you, the people who really love music. I will also be back to answer any questions you have about the show. Ask anything, provide content ideas, or simply tell us what you think. We want your opinion. We want to make this show everything it has the potential to be, and we can’t do that unless you tell us what would make this show great.

This thread was moved to the Marketing forum where it is better placed.

Good luck, guys!

Thanks TMS. Anything that you wish to see in the series? We really want to show everything an artist goes through to become successful, everything a label does to help make an artist successful, and also show how a label is launched and how it grows.

This sounds great! I really like the concept. Becoming an artist on a record label often seems like such a surreal thing that can only happen to people that are very different to ourselves. I would find it very interesting to see how it actually happens.

Goodluck!

I wish the best for you all. Especially if you are truly legit in your intentions. :)

You bet I am. Thanks to everyone who likes this. I just can't wait to really get the first episode online. I would love to use a lot of licensed music in the series, but if we don't hit our funding goal we will have to make some sacrifices.

On a separate note has anyone ever used Kickstarter to launch an album? I've seen a lot on there, but I wanted to know if anyone off of this forum has ever done it.

This is the first I have heard of the site (kickstarter).

I would help out in any way I can to get you going. Again, as long as you have the intentions that you speak of. Sounds like a great idea. :)

My minimal website is in my sig... I don't advertize for studio work. I just help out friends.

I've heard of Kickstarter before. Actually helped a friend out more than expected. I think someone here used it before.... Was that VomitHatSteve??

Kickstarter is a really cool thing. It works on a all or nothing basis. If you don't reach your funding goal then you don't get any of the funding pledged. That way it lowers the risk of people who help fund a project. It is also very secure, all pledges must be done through Amazon. I know that once you pledge a certain amount they don't charge you right away, they wait till the project has finished its funding period and then collect only if it reaches its goal.

There has been some cool projects that have been funded this way. Zack Braff raised over $3 million for a movie he is creating, and the Veronica Mars movie has raised even more. Like I said before, a lot of people raise money for albums here; they essentially pre-sell their albums to fund it.

It is too bad you live in Colorado, if you lived closer to Michigan I could see us working out a recording deal. Since we are such a young label we don't have a studio to record in. We have plans to build a professional studio in the future, but until then we will be contracting out studio space.

If anyone is near Michigan, has a nice studio, and would like to see their studio in our show; let me know.

My natural reaction is pure skepticism. That's just how I roll. I don't believe in good intentions when money is at stake. Good luck though.

Send a PM to a member called Chronicle. He is in the process of moving from Oregon to Michigan. He has a full studio from what I hear. He was looking for someone to partner with him. He had the gear, but needed space.

Thanks, I will send him a PM.

Visctor, what about music?
Where could I hear that?

As of now we have not released any albums under our label name. We are waiting because we want our first season to be us launching our label, finding great talent, recording talent, releasing the album, how we market the album, and taking you on tour. We have already prepared our distribution channels, and the music will be available through iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, YouTube, and more. We also want to make music available on our website that we are developing.

I just want to say thank you to the people on this forum that have been kind enough to back the project. We are making progress! I've been working on a few things to be released as we get closer to the end of the campaign period. Thank you again for you support! It means a lot.

We still have a long way to go though.
