Hello everyone... New here and also new to recording

Since you're new, I'll try to be gentle.

The drums sound kinda poorly recorded. Also the instruments could be more spread. The song is like a simple pop tune, which is nice. The playing and singing is good enough for this song. Not too long, so it works. I'm not sure about the panning, since I've got a flu, and my ears don't work right. You should take my comments with a grain of salt because of that.

Thanks for the info!

I decided to put the rest of our demo out there. Go check it out :)

The best we could do for the drums was to put one mic on the kick drum and a big condenser in front of the drum set high in the air. I tried adding another mic to the snare but the condenser mic overpowered all other mics. Only have 3 mics to record with. 2 SM57s and that Marshall condenser.

Any suggestions on ways to get around this?

Thanks again

I can't help out with the drum mixing, since I myself haven't recorded real drums. I've only used soundfonts so far.

About the other songs. They definately have that live feel to them. Sounds like they're played live anyway, so you have nice performances there. The singing reminds me somewhat of Kurt Cobain, which ain't that bad if you like that stuff. Also, the drummer is evenly good singer also. The songs sound very simplistic and there's kinda much air in them. It's hard to explain, but sounds like they could be a bit fatter somehow. But for demo quality, the recordings are good enough for telling the songs potential. I could see these songs improve a lot with proper mixing. They sound kinda MTV pop to me, and it's not my style, but I think the songs should do well in radio.
