Except for the normal doubling of distorted rythm-guitars, I decided to try doubling the guitar with a distorted bass (one per channel) to get a more aggressive/massive sound. To this I added the normal "clean" bass in the middle.

The distorted bass is mixed just so high that it gives the guitars an extra push in the right direction.

Guitars/Disted bass are recorded with a Roland GP100 straight into my computer.

2x2 distorted guitars, 1x1 distorted bass, 1 normal bass.

here's the result:

Damn...I like it :D

Could you explain to me "2x2 distorted guitars, 1x1 distorted bass, 1 normal bass."

I take it you mean 2 tracks of distorted guitar per channel, 1 track of distorted bass per channel, and then normal bass down the middle? Could you describe how you doubled your tracks - I.E. did you play everything twice or just use delays?

Dolemite, you're right about all your asumptions. I played everything, No copy/paste used on this example.

This was a little experiment I did for myself at first, but I thought I'd post it when it turned out pretty cool. It can of course sound a LOT better if more attention is paid to the sound..

awesome guitars...liked it a lot...

hi-hat seems harsh though... :)

but i liked the guitars...

It's a crash... and it sounds like shit.. ;)

That it does :)

What mic did you use? Its hard to hear under the guitars/bass, but it sounds like the cymbal track was overcompressed, or limited too low. Not really sure.

Guitars rock though!!!

The drums are made with Fruity Loops. I think it sounds like it does because the kick were mixed too high.
