Heartbreaker - Feedback Please

I think the mix is very good, nice tones... you could add just a little more compression to the vocals, but it's just a thought, your vocals are good right now.

Sounds good ido :).

(insert generic laptop disclaimer here), This sounds better balanced than the last couple of recent submissions I've heard from you. I'd like to hear it on a better setup, but the guitars and drums sound pretty nicely locked in together here. Maybe the vocals take off a little too much level-wise at times?...but then gain, maybe not :)

Ido you really have a sweet spot with this style of boogie .
There's a little bit of boom in the bass at the beginning of each phrase that needs taming but otherwise - get a drummer & a contract!

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I'm still not 100% sure about this mix but it is improving. I've been listening to it all week. I hear what you say Ray about the bass. I think I'll remix this again this weekend and try a few new ideas...

Worked on this mix again today...
- changed the reverb patch and upped it by a couple % ( I like that old 80's style reverb wash haha)
- reverb only on guitars and vocals using an effects send instead of on main mix. Mike likes his bass dry. Drums I don't think need reverb...
- changed the bass eq and increased the definition and some more low end. His ampeg is very bass-y in this cut and sounds pretty smooth....
- eq'd the guitars with a bit more bottom. They were sounding a bit thin to me before. I had a low cut patch which I think was extreme before. Now I roll it off but leave some lows around 320.

Anyway - have a listen and see what you think. I can always use your advice!

:D:):D:)

I assume it's the same soundclick as at the top...
It's a terrific song Gerry & the playing is really good.
The bass is quite powerful but it's not causing me the same grief inside the headphones that it was before - it fits the mix & the top end gives it placement cues really well.
Your becomeing the master of the stinging Strat blues rock lick!
Good one.

This is a pretty good mix Ido. I'd like more drums though, kick specifically.

Very nice sound! Reminds me a lot of the smooth distortion found in ZZ Top or Lenny Kravitz's stuff. Great job!

If you'd be willing to send me a drum-minus track, I'd like to see if I can get some live acoustic drums to it. It'd be fun to play along with your tune.

Sure - PM/Email Sent.....

More drums, more bass, less vocal.

The vocal phrasing reminds me a little of "Spooky". Nice playing and guitar tones.
