Not quite sure where to put this, but I think mixing and mastering require the most acute hearing, so this is probably the best place.
I recently bought a harley with straight pipes and it's loud. I mean really loud. And now I'm concerned about hearing loss on my right side where the exhaust is. I don't do recording professionally, just as a home hobby/for fun thing, so I'm not losing a career if I lose my hearing, but nonetheless, I don't want to lose my hearing.
I found this website where you can test your hearing.

I wanted to see how much I've really lost on my right side compared to my left side. Maybe it can help me "map" my weak freq's, etc, so I know how to compensate. I didn't quite follow their directions, but rather just tried each frequency on each ear until I couldn't hear it anymore. First the right, then the left.
Turns out my right side was BETTER than my left. Go figure. But both were still pretty close, which is alright with me.
I just wanted to share this. I think critical listening means good monitors, good room and good hearing. (Earplugs are in my future for riding)
Cheers
