Hi!!
Can anyone point me towards some good headphones?

thanks.

What are you going to use them for?

I like my Sennheiser HD280 Pros. They have a nice tight, flat response, and they isolate quite well. Fine for tracking and mixing. $99

+1 one on the hd-280's. I just got a pair for christmas and they are the best tracking headphones i've used. and great price at that.

I use and recommend the Ultrasone HFI-650. I bought them because of a recommendation in Tape Op and have never regretted it.

They are closed cup for no-feedback vocal tracking and they're well balanced enough so that I can do a very solid mix using them and just a few occasional monitor checks.

I will use them for studio-work only. They got to be comfortable to have on for longer time too you know.

I'm wearing mine right now, and they are light enough and comfortable enough to wear all the time.

I live in an apartment and although I've never asked them outright, I'm sure my neighbors don't want to hear me go through the generations and looping and playback and more playback that it takes to perfect a song.

I love headphones and the Ultrasones, for a truly modest investment, will give you everything you could look for in a lightweight closed cup heaphone.

Yea, but $200 plus for tracking headphones? I have one pair AT M40fs and two pairs MoreMe deluxe. They're doing just fine for me.

I can't say enough about the Sennheiser HD202's for general tracking cans... comfortable, sturdy, long cable, good isolation, good sounding, efficient and a steal of a deal :

I replaced a bunch of beat-up Koss cans in my studio a year or two ago with them, and none of them have failed (even the cans that the drummers always drop on the concrete floor). ;)

$20 of that is for tracking and the other $180 is for mixing.

Ever tried to do a mix on 'More Me' headphones?

Well I, for one, don't recommend mixing on MoreMe's, but I wouldn't do a mix on NS10's either.

I think the MoreMe's are alright...

The low end seems sort of exaggerated. They're also not very comfortable after along time. :(

Those are the only things about them that I don't like. Other than that they're great headphones. I like the stereo/mono switch on them. They also block out sound real well from outside.

Akg 240 series are nice. You have to hang them when not using though.

I have had the k240df studio monitor phones for 10 years and been very happy with them. They are flat response. I think they are discintinued, but you may want to poke around at AKG they still make versions of the 240.

F.S.

You can make them a little more comfortable by bending the wire clip that holds the earcups, but you'll wind up with a little more bleed if you don't have them pressed tightly on your head. It's a trade-off; tightness with less bleed, for comfort with more bleed.

Don't understand the "exaggerated low end" comment. They sound to me like they have a slight bump in the upper end of the bass range, but that's a plus for bass players, I would think.

Sony MDR-V150, $20 at Wal-Mart or Target. timboz likes them, too. notCardio's head is too big for them, but he gets headgear at Circle City Tent & Awning. If you get them and don't like them, those retailers will take them back.

I just got a pair of AKG K-55's. They seem pretty good for the price. $30. Will probly be fine for my home studio im working on.

I've got those and the Moreme's. Like them both. They get the job done, and that's what counts. The MoreMe's are much more durable though, and are great for tracking (especially vocals cause they don't bleed much!) Sony ones would be better for mixing (I'd assume, at least). My $.02

Those things sound like ass. :p :D

Hey, they're twenty bucks though.

Not to disrep your rep... but MDR-V150's do sound like ass, I just returned a pair this morning and exchanged for a pair of Sennheiser HD201's. I guess I got what I paid for.

The MDR-V150's I bought were grossly exaggerated in bass and lower-mid ranges - and I do mostly R&B/Hip-Hop stuff, so if the bass is excessive even for a bass driven genre, something is definitely wrong. The Sennheiser's are much more flat.

Maybe my ears are different. I have to massage them into place to get the bass tight.
