I'm simply looking for a pair of studio headphones (NOT IN EAR) and I have no clue about any of them. Please give me some insight on all types of headphones from $50-$150.
I really like my Audio Technica ATH-50. Nice, extended bass. Had to get used to hearing those sub frequencies my monitors don't reproduce. Comfortable on the head. I check my mixes with them all the time.
When I tried a bunch of the popular models a few years ago (most of which are still in production), these seemed by far the most neutral AND most comfortable.
And of course, it depends on what you're using them for. I wouldn't use them for monitoring while playing drums or a mic'ed guitar or bass, for instance. They don't have the best isolation.
+1 for the ATH-50. Very good phones for the price. There are a number of sellers on e-bay who sell new units at good prices. Better than my Sonys. Different than my AKGs (cheaper too).
