How does one set-up a headphone system for a small studio?

Mylo,
It depends if you want to have seperate mixes or if one mix for everyone will do fine...I bought a Behinger 4 channel headphone mixer that i've had for 2 years now...sounds good enough for whta I need it for....I'm using the Aux outs on my Yamaha AW4416 and running them to the inputs of the headphone mixer for 4 seperate monitor mixes. You can also just use the stereo out or headphone out frmo your mixer and run it into the stereo in on the headphone amp. Hope this helps out a little...

I run an "AUX" output(buss) from mixer, to a headphone amp, so I can mix what ever I need via the "aux" fader on each channel of the mixer. Although, I have 5 auxilaries per channel, so that helps. I use the dedicated headphone output on the mixer for the control room cans.

I am a lil slow on the uptake . . .

I have a 1202 Mackie Mixer . . . and a Delta Audio 66 Sound Card . . . the main out fromthe mixer is going into one of the IN ports on the soundcard.
My "inside the vocal booth" head phones are plugged into one of the other ports on the sound card.

My "outside the vocal booth" head phones are plugged into a THIRD sound card port (still in the Delta Audio 66 -- not a different sound card altogether))

Is this a "correct" set up? It seems to be working fine . . . only th ing is . . .
when for instance a group is recording . . . i have to tell them to "shut up" while one guy is doing his vocals . . . adn the music CAN NOT be heard "outside the vocal booth" or else it ruins the recorded vocal track
"inside the vocal booth"

is this an indication that I am hooking stuff up incorrectly, or is this pretty much the "standard fare" for home recordings . . . ?

I just purchased some cordless head phones from (of all places) Wal-Mart. I saw them at Radio Shack as well, but they were more expensive there. Any way, the headphones are "cordless" . . . has anyone else tried these . . . or anything along these lines . . . ?

Gully,
You can get what you're looking for with a headphone amp. It will aloow you to use the headphone outut of your mackiw board and run it directly into the headphone amp and split it up from there.
It sounds like you're crossing stuff up w/ your card. I really don't know about the card part, not familiar with it...
The headphone amp i have cost about $100, then the headphones...it will power 12 sets of phones....should be plenty for what you're doing....
