we don't need rest!!
OK...idea spawned from another thread, which never really took hold.

How about a true "head cuttin" thread? (and this can be friendly, eh?)

Reasons for...
1. Let's see who is the "real talent" around here.
2. Some friendly competion.. and I am ready to have my ass stomped too!
3. well...I could list a bunch of other positive reasons...but no need, really..

Some guidelines (maybe)
1. I would say, anything goes... ANY instrument, ANY style, etc...
2. Maybe keep the time limit down to <min....?
3. Maybe keep the "performance" as a single instrument... no "band" stuff.
4. Recording wizardry allowed... anything... any equipment etc..

Also.. what would be even cooler...
--->take a previous track (in THIS thread) and play it back, but even "better"...or take it beyond.

Think like the movie "Crossroads"... but open to any style, sounds, etc..

Potentially, if this thread develops, it could be organized, and put into a poll format..or a "sister" thread could be started for comments, ...or whatever. I am sure others will offer up some good ideas.

So..wadda ya say? Who's the best? Who gets the best sound? (and I don't care if it's a POD or a kazoo).
Let's here what you think is YOUR best, lets see how good a "ditty" this forum can shake out of the trees...

Maybe prizes!! (naw...but maybe!)

The mixing contests where fun.. This could be better.

disclaimer:... yes...the forum is for helping to develop skills...not a contest, blah, blah blah...
But ONE thread in the last 6, 7 (?) years that has a little "spirit" to it.. maybe as a "break" in the normal post and review.

I'm for it, and can even post the first tacky "match this ditty".

Or..you guyz can tell me to "shut the F up...and I'll sift thru all the lousy posts here again  :D :D :D

I have no frikin idea what on earth you're talking about!

Record a clip of what, exactly? Head cutting? Heh. To showcase what, exactly? Songwriting ability? Playing ability? Recording/mixing ability? Based on production value? Wha...? Am I close?

Callout- rap battles?  ;)

I dunno. I guess I don't quite get it, but whatever it is,... have fun! ;)

1. anything

3. everything
4. yes
5. yes
6. yes
7. yes
8. you got it!!

now...go record!!

Oh hell, why not :D

Here's a short clip that I will revisit from the wanking thread.
I'm posting it because I've already got it here to post. Maybe I'll do a much better one when I get a chance.

By the way, this was recorded with a V-Amp pro with way too many effects. (I wasn't really going for sweet tone, more for cheesiness :D )

Head Cuttin'

It was Ry Cooter playing both parts. The soundtrack was done before they hired Vai.

weenie! ;)

hey...I gotta contact you about the midi drum samples. I am a complete greenie to that, as I don't do any computer sequencing. I guess I gotta get into that first.. then plop in the samples, eh? Seems like the best bang for your buck for getting decent drum sounds.. right? ..couple 300 bucks or so for a sequencing program and then some samples?
How do I start?
(figure this is MY thread and I can wander wherever I want...ha!)

Ok you ass-monkey's.....listen and weep....I mean cry like little babies....this is freakin sweet shit......SHIT with a capitol SHIT!!!!
