HD24 User Info

Howdy...we are exploring the addition of a dedicated HDR, and wanted to get some input from the Alesis HD24 users. Using a Mackie d8b console and Samplitude 6.04 for editing/some effects...

1) How well does it do what its supposed to do?
2) Any interface issues with MMC?
3) All anecdotal input (horror stories, great stories, whatever) are welcomed!

Considering (in no particular order) Tascam MX2424, Mackie HDR, and if my lottery tickets pan out, RADAR Nyquist...but no sense in spending more on products of equal value just for a name....

I use mine in conjunction with a MOTU 2408 mkII, a GenX6 and an analog board. I fly tracks in and out of a PC with the MOTU for editing. I can't imagine why it wouldn't rock with a D8B. The converters on it sound great to me and it uses any drive, hot swapable. I bought a 40 gig Wetern Digital drive the other day for a new project and after rebate, it was around $60. For $60, I can record 24 bit/ 44.1 24 tracks for over 4 hours. Cheaper than tape (if you go 8 tracks, it's over 10 hours).
