Any advice in the best/most reliable hard drive to use in the caddy of an HD24? I've heard there can be transfer problems with Maxtor, and there are a lot of them out there for sale. The Seagates, I've read, are more reliable?

I've used small (60, 80gb) Maxtor drives with my HD24 and transferred files using the Fireport without problems. I think Seagate drives are probably the most compatible. The only drives I wouldn't use are Western Digital, Hitachi or white-label recertified drives.

The HD24 was designed to use 5400rpm IDE drives with smaller (2mb) caches. You don't need to use 7200rpm drives with large cache sizes (8, 16mb). Try www.pricewatch.com online & find bargains on larger IDE 5400rpm drives.
