Hey guys, I'm new here, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but here's my question.

I've just gotten into home recording, with no prior experience. I'm using a Focusrite scarlett 2i4 and using Reaper as my DAW. The audio going from the focusrite to the monitors I have is coming through, but no audio is being recorded or played back through Reaper. If anyone could offer assistance on what preferences to use in Reaper or any help on getting this fixed, it would be much appreciated.

If you are just setting up Reaper, then I'm guessing you may not have configured Reaper to use your Focusrite. It's Options: Preferences: Audio: Devices. You should see a window to set your ASIO and your Focusrite.

If you have done that and you're still having trouble, then you probably haven't got a track set to record. There's a bit of a learning curve, but not too bad. You go to the track options (right click on the red Record Arm button). You want to select the input from your Focusrite. You can set the track to monitor the input signal if you want. Then you click on that button again to arm the track for recording. Hit the big red Record button on the master and off you go.

Let me know if this helps.

It's all covered in the manual which is free to download on the same page you got Reaper from! :RTFM::)
