Having MR 8 fun

I think I'm going to add some tom toms to my version of "Well respected man". It is so....odd sounding. And yet, it works.
Ukulele and toms, who'd a thunk...
I've spent the day just playing around with different mixes, including some keyboard bass (I'm still trying to convince my wife she needs a real acoustic bass).
I have never used midi before, but the keyboard I have has midi in and out, so I may see what i can do with that. Any suggestions on how to start?

There are packages at Best Buy that include a MIDI cable that plugs into the joystick port on your computer if you are starting out with nothing. Otherwise I've heard people really like PG Music's PowerTracks - it's a $29 sequencer.
