having midi control trouble

hello, i just bought an axiom 25 and have no clue how to load sound on it. it is my first midi controller and i am completely lost. I operate out of sonar LE. Any suggestions on what to do?
 
I assume you've gone through the installation process and hooked it up to your computer ok.

You then need to open Sonar, create a midi track and make sure that the Axiom is selected as an input device. I don't have SOnar, so I don't know how you go about doing these things.

On this midi track in Sonar you then need to load a VST instrument.

Once you've done the above, you can play the instrument using the Axiom's keyboard.

If you hit 'record' on the track, Sonar will record what you are playing.
 
i greatly appreciate the information... is it the same for the drum pads???
 
Yeah. The drum pads trigger MIDI note numbers and can be re-mapped to different note numbers depending on how the drums are mapped in the VST plug.

Trigger the pads in Piano Roll View and you can see which notes are sounding. Or open the Event View and you can see them there too by their MIDI note number.
