Look at this picture, the snare to be more specific. Tell me what you think?. Cool isn´t it? How do you do that? with a permanent marker, or printing the head?.

This is fairly common - a Sharpie works well.

Keep in mind, a large stadium act (which appears in the picture) changes drum heads every couple of shows. If you leave the same head on for a year, this may not be a good idea. If you still have the same set list after a year.......well maybe you need new songs.

Also - keep in mind, the average club band needs about 40 songs for a 3 set gig - that's too many to write on a snare.
 
Well, I was speaking for myself for my own use when I said too bad it is permanent.
Since I don't change heads every couple of shows, nor play on venues like the picture :) so for me it's a bad idea, however i could make some fancy designs on it...
 
I've seen someone do this really badass Metallica painting on his snare head. Of course, its pointless since it'll just rub off after one rehersal and look like cah.
