have some equipment, but can't figure it out

Hello, another newbie needs rescuing. My husband is the songwriter, and I got him some stuff but neither of us can figure out how to set up anything. He has a keyboard with MIDI capability, an electric drum machine with MIDI capability, a Turtle Beach Sound Card on new Dell desktop with 60 GB hard drive and Pentium 4 processor; Windows XP operating system, electric guitar and amp, and a Tascam US 224 Digital Audio Workstation Controller/USB Interface. We can work the keyboard and drums through the sound card, but we cannot make the Tascam work with anything. It also came with Cubasis software. Anyone got any suggestions as to what else we need or what we may be doing wrong?

Goto www.tascam.com and get the latest drivers for the 224 and follow the install guide.
Plug the drum machine and keyboard into the midi ins on the 224 and send each midi out back to the appropriate device. Plug drum and keyboard audio outs to the 224. Then go out and get cubase sx. Because cubasis is worthless.

It's not worthless - it's definitely not a powerhouse full of features, but it'll work. I remember the Cubasis days (version 1.0R1). It was the best $79 I had ever spent when I first got started. (...attempting to nip the pathetic nostalgia scene in the bud)

I'm sure you'll be using a newer version, but aside from the lack of some higher-end features, I remember the main reason I upgraded was to allow recording multiple tracks at once. Yours should at least be able to record at 24 bit, being that it was bundled with the 224, so you should be in business.
