Have I got a book for lovers of this forum!

I couple of weeks ago, there was a thread (or four) about homebrew mics. Quite by accident, I discovered a long out of print (I think) book in the local library.

It is a history of the man who invented (what else) the microphone!!! No kidding. The man's name (and who we should all pay homage) is Emile Berliner.

The gist of the story is that Emile, an immigrant to the US, learned of Bell's invention, the telephone and embarked on his own without ever having seen Bell's! The result was a new type of transmitter (microphone) and the rest is history. What follows is the information on the book. If anyone can locate a current source for the book, I would be interested.

"Emile Berliner, Maker of the Microphone"
by, Frederic William Wile
published by the Bobbs-Merrill Company, Indianapolis
Copywrite 1926

I can find no Library of Congress number. They may not have put them in back then, I don't know.

If the book is out of print, it is too long to copy so you're all on your own if you're into history.

Good Luck, Steve :D

I typed the name Emile Berliner in google and got 17,900 hits so there is plenty of info on Emile.
