Firstly, I've been in the industry and gotten a few accolades.
My problem has been that I've delved into all aspects of the business, and lost most of my song and movie ideas to persons with more cash and/or clout in the industry. Also since I come up with v good song ideas, lyrics, melodies, movie ideas, but haven't mastered the technical side enough, the ideas were often "borrowed
" by others who then made them look/sound more professional for the market.
To ensure success, I'm now taking a step back, and ensuring that my basic skills are in order.
With this in mind, and since I've lost all my fund on Wall Street (touch economy) I've been forced to build a cheap home studio and build back up. Any of you that could give your brilliant input and put me on the right track with my studio, I'd greatly appreciate it. Below is my studio setup:
PRESENT EQUIPMENT
MXL V63m Microphone
Fostex DMT-8 Recorder / Mixer
Adobe Audition 3
ProTools LE 6.5
MBox 2 Mini
U-control UCA202
Akai MPK 49 (haven’t gotten it to play with Propellerhead Reason)
Oxygen 8 Midi Controller
Numerous XLR, MIDI and other cables and adapters
Comptuers
Main computer: HP Slimline Model KN231AAR s342of
4GB Ram available 1.49, Win Vista 32 bit, Service Pack 1 build 6001, , x 86 based, AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual core 5400+, 2 logical processors, SM Bios 2.4, Page file size 3.67GB. Using motherboard, soundcard and video card that the machine came with, but I’m open to upgrading cards if cost isn’t too high.) Had approx 450 GB HD, now down to 38 GB.
2nd Computer: HP Desktop (2 GB Ram, Win XP Home)
3 Netbooks, basic setups, but limited RAM and CPU speeds (I plan to use them as in-the-field idea storage (song lyrics, etc) and for online research, etc.
Thanks again
