Hate the "Greats"

OK, I'll play.........
The worst, most suckiest band I've ever seen ( man, these guys could suckstart a Harley ) was The Ramones.
Pure, unadulterated crap......and it never stopped. Every single song sounded exactly the same.....shitty and faster than fast.

I feel so old!!! This thread is just hilarious. Every time I read these "best" and "worse" threads I realize that there are a bunch of people that have their ears near their a$$; not to mention a huge lack of view of the entire picture, historical data etc etc... to say that Hendrix sucked/s is ridiculous. There is no aspect of Hendrix that sucked/s other than the way his life ended. His songs are great, his playing was awesome, his style was unique. The Who is another band that rocks/ed. Great musicians doing great music. RUSH, well, ask any drummer, go ahead, ask any drummer to name you 3 influences and there you'll have the answer; and Lee and Lifeson alone are musicians to be revered for ever... kids, go and listen to 2112, at least give the "temples of sirynx" a chance and then come and tell me they suck, please. It's funny to hear people bashing KISS after only listening to "I was made for loving you" and "rock and roll all night" come on... Educate yourselves. To the EINSTEIN that said that Rhoads is/was no guitar god... maybe you're right, God might not be the right expression... but without a doubt, Randy will be regarded as one of the best guitar players of all time and his beautiful note choice, his awesome playing and his "heart" will continue to influence guitar players forever. Sgt. Pepper is and will always be one of the most important albums of all time. Kids, get a clue before you come here and ramble... It's One thing to come here and say that you don't like Rush or Hendrix (You probably like Britney or Hanson and I don't) but to say that they suck.... hmmmmm....

I was under the impression that the suck era of grunge and "music" without a clue as to what music IS, the era of anti-musicians without a clue was over by now... I guess not quite...

And that is just the truth. By the way, this is not the U S of A it's an international forum last I checked.

I took a ton of grief for that in my youth also.......

Back then I thought the Who sucked goat balls but over the years I learned to admit Pete wrote some epic pieces.

As for Hendrix.......
It is always a Love, Hate thing with the guy. I understand people not liking his music.
Before you say "The guy couldn't play" or put him in a league with Hack artists like Jimmy Page, Please give a listen to "Machine Gun" from the Band of Gypsys album. It was recorded live, and frankly considering it was New Years Eve, 1969, The playing was life altering. If you haven't ever heard it, please give it a listen with an open mind. (All you Hendrix haters)

I can say I have heard everything Jimmy Page ever recorded,

fuck, what u guys got up ur asses? hatin on zeppelin and hendrix and shit... i mean come on... keep it to yourself, just cuz u cant play as well doesnt mean u need to trash talented players. i have no clue WHY this thread was created, but come on... be open to all different styles of music, even if its something u dont like, ull gain something from it

It's been about 40 years since I bought a popular recording that I didn't have to in order to learn songs for gigs. Now you might get the impression I think everything sucks. It's not that really, it's just that my musical tastes, at least as a listener, are obscure.

I've heard material from most of the groups mentioned, but couldn't say if they suck or not. I figure they got to be famous so there must be some talent there.

This Linkin Park music my daughter's been listening to lately is starting to get on my nerves, and I'd have to say they suck.
 
I always thought Aerosmith was a second rate rock band.



Aaaaah that does feel kinda good.
 
I'd have to agree on alot of the bands mentioned, about sucking in general, but there are a few songs that I do like by almost all.... some more, some not as much, some I could take. some I could leave... Its not that I hate them, as much as I just dont like them, well not a whole lot, if any really... I mean I could listen to a couple songs or maybe even 3 or 4, but not like alot of songs... and it would have to be ones I kinda liked, as opposed to the ones I cant stand or the ones I hate more than others... more or less....

OK. 'll play. EVERY band, pop, country and especially metal (tune the guitar down to DC and sing (sing????:eek: ) like Cookie Monster) that's come out since, oh say, 1985. Every single one of them. How's that for a suck list.

Ya, I'll concur, but change the time and say: every album AFTER Bad Motor Finger, Smells Like Teen Spirit, and Metallica (black album) has been a genre is search of an original thought.

I think that anyone who can't recognize good music is stupid and/or has bad taste.

That sums up my feelings on this thread.
 
Well, I personally only say what I said in a mock way. I'm allowed to not have an ear for certain bands/songs/singers/etc., but I'd never really say any obviously talented band sucks. I like Teenage Wasteland (can't spell Baba O'Reilly I don't think), I like School's Out For Summer, etc., when I'm out at a club or whatever, it's just not what I'd listen to personally.

Does that mean it sucks? I don't know, I'd never say that in earnest.

On the other hand, I've been known to really dig some pretty crappy bads LOL!

hmmm...still can't find the part where I asked how anyone felt about this thread? Everybodies taste is different, and just because it differs from yours dosen't make it wrong or bad, just human. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I always thought different taste is what makes things interesting. If we all had the same taste we would all be stars wouldn't we. Wow, maybe you're on to something.....

That's not a fact. That is a choice of assumption based on subjective opinion, which is something that cannot be reasonably argued.

If my definition of good music is starkly different than yours, then the only real idiot is you for making blanket statements of ignorance just because someone disagrees with you.

Good music. Of course what is considered by you and I to be good music is subjective, but not entirely. There are some universal qualities that all "good music" has. Hell, all good art has these qualities. Just because some 12 year old pre-pubescent punk thinks "Dungeon Sluts 3" is a cinematic masterpiece, that does not make it so.

Writing off. Dismissing without so much as a second thought. This is not only closed-minded, but idiotic.

That was not an "I'm right and you're wrong!" post. You'd have to be an idiot to assume that it was.
