Yes good.

Bought one after trying out the following list of mics for my voice:

KSM44
AKG 3/4000
AT3525
AT4050
AT4033
NT1/NT3
NTK

the nt1000 is built like a rock. Works on my voice like a charm. Wife and friends were like, "hey you sound good, what did you do?"... and they've heard my vox through sm58;s, sm57's and all of the above mics.

My voice can be characterized as average anglo american male voice. chior/theater trained a long time ago, not smooth or raspy, just average. I sing like I speak, so I don't do raspy or metal rock styles. I guess you could say Sting and I sound similar in tone, but not in quality. :)

Sure, I woulda kept the NTK, but it was more expensive and seemed much warmer/darker (as it should be) than the NT1000, and when I auditioned the nt1000 vocal track blind, I was like "wow that's me", so for me it was one of those mic-voice matching aha experiences. But the NTK just kicks ass.

Visit www.prorec.com for a review, but here's what I've found:

great for voice
ok for guitar... depends on placement, strings can sound metallic

the good:
reallly don't have to eq anything at all after doing a vocal take, other than low shelf perhaps
great clarity, defintion and a bit of an edge.
I like the low end, but it's not the NTK when it comes to lower mids.

the less good:
very minor, but *sometimes* the high end can sound metallic, or even a bit distorted around 6-12K. With the guitar, I find the high strings almost metallic, and when I've got allergies, I can hear a bit of a buzz in the high end on my vocals.

summary:

for the price, for vocals or similar sources, I think this thing sounds like a TM103, or close enough. I think you can apply the same rule for good sources as you would with the TM103 (which is not known as a great guitar mic due to high end sheen). The best thing is I don't have to touch a damned thing after a vocal take. It sits right in the mix and stays there.

With guitar, placement and eq are probably requried.

I was actually surprised, because I am very picky about my high end, and have hated the NT1, NT2 and NT3 for thieir high end. The NT1000 is a whole lot better and just seems to be a different class of mic.

my 2 cents. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
