Harvey - question on old Neumann mic

Harvey, I ran across a couple of Neumann CMV 3 mics with M7 capsules today. The guy I was talking to said they were not in the best shape and would require a rebuild at a cost of around $600. He had one original power supply and the other was a replacement unit.

Just wondered if I should entertain the thought of buying these and rebuilding them. Supposedly these are the first Neumanns made. circa 1930. I am wondering if they would sound all that great after the fact too.

Any thoughts you could pass along would be appreciated.

If the M7 capsules are still in good condition and the price is right, it could be a good buy. The M7 capsule was used in the U47 and U48. Microtech Gefell still makes a version of the M7 capsule.
