Someone keeps giving me negative for my comments in this thread. No one on the web has given so much free and valuable advice as Harvey Gerst. If that irks you, then go drink a case of beer or something and get over it. :D

even though this thread is a lil old,

i never pass up the oppertunity to praise harvey!

thanks so much for being part of this group.

and also, it is great to see that you use alot of the same mics i use, except in a professional enviroment. really, i should read this post evertime i think that i need to buy new mics cause my recordings suck :D :D :D

but we all know that its me that sucks, and most evryone here can understand what that's like..

BUT, most of the vocals we do are either on the MXL V69, our Neumann TLM103, or an old Shure SM-7, and we still find some vocals work best on the MXL V67. I suspect our new Studio Projects T3 will also get used a lot.

Harvey:

I couldn't tell from your gallery pics... where do you usually record vocals? How big of a space, room treatment, what's around the mike, etc. is what I'm curious about.

Cheers,

Otto

Or have the balls to sign their neg rep, not that rep really matters. I'm assuming they didn't since that's the norm. Or, god forbid, say their piece in public instead of hiding behind anonymous rep comments.

Here's a picture I just took a few minutes ago of a vocal setup in Studio A. The group was in earlier today doing vocals.

It's the anonymity that bothers me here. It usually doesn't but on this one it does.

Do you normally try to track vocals dry?

We'll use a little compression most of the time, but that's about it.

Oh, shit, Steve...now you've gone and given the little weenie scrap a reason to live.
