Harshness with the Rode NT!

I heard many people rave about the Rode NT1 and the ART Tube MP (for it's price).

So I bought them.

The sound was too harsh for vocals.

So I replaced the tube with a GrooveTubes 12AX7C.

It's still too harsh.

Did I get the wrong tube? Is there a mellower tube that might help?

Do I just need an E.Q.?

Anyone else have this problem?

The NT1 can be harsh in places , but you can get very decent tracks out of it...at one time it was THE bang for the buck mic to have....try different preamp settings and different mic positions/angles/distances to see if you can remedy some of it and maybe some EQ in certain areas

Panny, I sold my NT1 to get $$ to buy a Studio Projects C1 and haven't
looked back since! (Much smoother)
You should be able to get most of your money back on the NT1 by selling it
over ebay, like I did.
