Hardware drum machine or software?

Yes, I know a real kit and a live drummer would be better! I love and respect all you drummers, but when you ain't around, which is the better way to go these days?

I have an old Boss DR-550mkII I used to use with a Tascam porta studio, but I have since grown up and am now learning computer digital recording on a Tascam US-122 running Cubasis VST.

I'm learning slowly I should add....

So my question is:

Should I sell of this old Boss Dr-550 drum machine and learn to use a software one instead?

My needs are fairly simple at this point. I don't do speed metal or anything like that, just simple mostly acoustic Dylan type stuff.

I value your opinions. Thank you in advance!

Hey,if you're doing simple stuff, my question is are you happy with the sounds you have in the 550? If they suit your needs,
sync it up to cubasis via MIDI. You already know how to use and program it. Also if you use a soft or hard module, programming sucks without a keyboard or drum controller for input. Plus side,
if you go soft, there are 1000's of pre-made loops you can fly in
for drumbeats......not my cup of tea..... just my opinion, hope it helps.
