hardcore pickups

might i suggest a Seymour Duncan JB or FULL SHRED pickup. These are both excellent for "metal" tones. Not as high output as some, especially EMG's, but i think slightly lower output pickups lend alot more clarity and better tone. Besides a "JB" will only run you about 60-80 bucks.

FWIW a lot of the early Dischord bands had budget guitars with P90s in them. It's part of that D.C. hardcore sound!

Iommi isn't a classic57. It's way hotter and crazy wound, It's also epoxy potted like an EMG is. the Iommi is the second hottest output pickup Gibson makes...second to the 500T.

right on.

I must have been thinking of what Iommi actually used on the early albums.

actually the pickups in the voodoo series guitars are higher output than 500t's and so are the dirty fingers pickups. but the 500t's are damn high output.

I never include the Dirty finger pickups cause they're awful. And I dont think they ever came in anything but that blink182 guys guitar which was very short lived. The Voodos used the 496/500 combo.

Here's a refrence:
