This is our first self recorded demo for my new band. I used a Tascam 2488 to record the drums and guitars, guitars had Blue Encore 100 mics, and the bass was direct in. Vocals were recorded at home with a Line 6 TonePort UX8 and all mixed with Cubase.

Let me know any critique you guy shave for the mix!

:thumbs up:

The bass becomes MIA after the intro. It's only really there in the quiet Tool parts - those parts are a little too tool.

I feel like this mix lacks low end in general. Try boosting the bass on the kick and bring the volume of the bass guitar up. The vocals sound a little too high passed too.

Pretty good effort if you ask me. Good material and the right vocal. What I'm not hearing is the contrast between the thrash and quiet bits. Perhaps experiment with giving the drums more influence.

P.S. On second listen the contrast is fine, it's the vocal treatment with way too much reverb that needs variation...

love the intro sounds spacey and a bit abstract good!

guitars sound good! the song sounds like a mix of Disturbed and Soundgarden, good stuff

Pahaha, oh man, Holy Tool vibes batman!, I likes very much. I think when the transition part comes in after the intro, it got muddied up quite a bit, so a lot of punch got lost. So once I felt that build up come, I got all amped, then the muddy came, so I was like "awww, WTH?". No offense, happens to the best of us, but to me sounds like a bit too much compression or the attack/release was a bit off at that part.

I liked the crunchy guitar sound. The guitar covers the bass though.

The vocal seems a couple of db's too low. Personal taste thing - but I thought the effects on the vocal were a little too heavy. But I tend to like things dryer than most people.

Cymbals have a bit of a "hissy" sound. i can't hear much of the snare. The mix is kind of all guitars.

Good playing/singing. Performances all around were good. Heard some pitchiness in the intro, but I think it was intentional.

The crackles at the end didn't seem to serve a purpose. If you leave them in, I'd shorten them to just 2-3 seconds and do a quick fade.
