hard drive temp ?

how hot do your hard drives get ?

i've just moved my pc into a cuboard with no case , sloted some accustic foam and stood the hard drives in it untill they would not fall over , now i have no fans in this cuboard and the harddrives are ticking over at 40 degrees at idle ,i have not had a chance to really work them yet but is 40 too hot at idle ?

and what temp can they go to untill they go tits up ?

Dunno..... look up the specs of the drive and it should have the "normal" operating temp range

looked it up says upto 60 dregrees but does not say a normal temp ,just curious what other peoples run at ?
and if its worth trying some passive cooling.
